Blue-faced Leicester High Twist 4ply/fingering: Sugar Plum

Blue-faced Leicester is the British answer to merino, it is a soft wool of fine quality that can be worn next to the skin.

4ply or fingering weight yarns are also known as sock yarn however this base does not have any nylon in it. Still suitable for socks though they will felt a little at the wear points. But that stops holes from forming! It is my preferred sock yarn.

This yarn is suitable for finer garments like lightweight jumpers or shawls, mittens and hats for example.

100gm has 365m, it is a slightly thicker version of the BFL 4ply, with more bounce and loft. It is super wash wool, meaning it can be put in the washing machine but hand washing is recommended. Care has been taken to rinse the yarn thoroughly but like with all hand dyed yarn, there may be some colour bleeding.

Note:

Yarn is dyed in a smoke-free, cat-friendly environment. Yarn must be caked or balled before use. Alternate skeins on large projects to avoid the colour difference when the next skein is used. Check gauge or make a swatch before beginning a project.
